Newcastle close in on £5m deal for Netherlands World Cup star

first_img Daryl Janmaat [right] in action for Holland 1 Newcastle are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Holland international Daryl Janmaat.The Magpies are set to lose France right-back Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal and Alan Pardew has acted quickly to line up a deal for Janmaat, who has previously been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham.Sources in Holland now suggest it is only a matter of time before the Feyenoord full-back becomes a Newcastle player, with the North East club set to pay a fee of around £5m.The 24-year-old, whose contract at Feyenoord expires next summer, featured five times for Holland at the World Cup and started their matches against Spain, Australia and Chile.After coming through the ranks at Feyenoord, he made his breakthrough in senior first-team football for ADO Den Haag before joining Heerenveen and eventually re-signing for his first club in 2012.last_img read more
