Roger Burnley, chief executive, Asda, said: “We have supported the scheme over many decades through significant cash contributions.“That funding, combined with strong stewardship by the scheme’s trustees, has resulted in the very positive situation where the scheme can now be transferred to an A+ rated insurance company, Rothesay Life, derisking the scheme and providing long term, sustainable support for its members.”Aon was lead adviser to the pension scheme trustees, alongside Addleshaw Goddard, Cardano and Lincoln Pensions.Mike Edwards, partner at Aon, confirmed to IPE that this was the Asda scheme’s first bulk annuity deal, adding that there was a trend emerging for large schemes to cover all their pension liabilities in a single transaction. He drew attention to the “immaturity” of the Asda scheme given that two-thirds of the members are deferred, noting that such long duration has “created pricing challenges” in the past. The buy-in is the latest in a string of derisking transactions for Rothesay, following recent deals with National Grid, Pernod Ricard and Telent. It is also the UK’s 10th longevity transaction over £1bn so far this year. Nearly £35bn of pension liabilities have been insured via bulk annuities this year. The pension trustees of UK supermarket Asda and its US owner Walmart have agreed a £3.8bn (€4.4bn) buy-in with insurer Rothesay Life. The deal covers all members of the Asda Group Pension Scheme – 12,300 in total, with 4,800 pensioners and 7,500 deferred members.Asda will make a one-off final payment into the scheme of some £800m, which is to be followed in due course by a full buyout, with completion expected in late 2020 or early 2021, according to a statement. The transaction, made partly to exploit “favourable market conditions”, will remove all future scheme liabilities from the Asda and Walmart balance sheets.

We won’t even try to tell you which one, because there are so many good ones and everybody has their favorite. But you will need your strength, so make sure you are well nourished (and caffeinated) before heading out.The first stop is Compass Rose. Compass Rose is chock full of things you knew you wanted (Le Creuset cookware, clever books, to-die-for earrings) and an abundance of things you never knew you needed (vegan handbags, Moleskine notebooks, buttery soft baby blankets). Compass Rose combines great style with a commitment to its employees and the community. They are a perfect example of why we should all be shopping local. After you have found the perfect gift at Compass Rose and had it wrapped up all pretty (complimentary gift wrapping!), head across the street to Bartel’s to pick up a snappy shirt for your husband/father/luva. Bartel’s is known for their old-fashioned service and suit tailoring, but what you might not know is they carry a darn good selection of hip shirts, pants, and shoes for the modern man in your life. On trend and stylish. No need to go to Seattle for designer denim. Now it’s girl time! Across the street from Bartel’s is Sweet Life. (If you need another coffee or a num-num, Batdorf and Bronson is right next door, and Tasty Morsels is right around the corner.) Sweet Life caters to the young (or young at heart) and has everything you need to stay trendy. Their pink walls, welcoming staff, and fabulous decor will make you feel right at home. Pick up a Tarina Tarantino necklace or Free People tunic and you will be the envy of all of your friends.Just up the street is not-to-be-missed Jinjor. The owner of Jinjor spent many years in Nordstrom’s lingerie department, and she knows her stuff. If you are looking for quality undergarments with the right fit, there is nowhere better in town. They also have a great assortment of frocks for your next charity auction/wedding/date night. Yoana Baraschi, Trina Turk, and Butter by Nadia to name a few. Tres chic!By now, you must be getting hungry. Double back for lunch at Acqua Via. It has a an urban feel and exceptional light, regardless of the season. They have wonderful salads and paninis, but you simply must get the Creme of Artichoke Soup. A cup, a bowl, or the whole dang pot. Order it. Along with something sparkling. You can thank me later. Now that you have updated your wardrobe and filled your belly, it is time to move onto home decorating. There are two perfectly complimentary home decor stores just down the street from one another. They allow you to play with high-low, just like the designers do. The first is Red Door Interiors. They have a great collection of new and renewed home decor items from chairs to poker sets. Everything is well priced and fun. Their RD Shady interchangeable lamp shades (patent pending) are brilliant. Because the lamp shade covers can be zipped on and off the lamp, these interchangeable shades allow you to update your look without spending a fortune (the mantra at Red Door). They are just getting going, but are planning a full launch for October. I predict the ladies at Red Door are going to be famous. (And they are so nice!)The last stop on the shopping route is Drees. Drees is an Olympia institution. Everything from Simon Pearce glassware to Crane stationery to a mohair couch to lovely hostess soaps. You can pop in for a sweet gift or a whole new house. If you are looking for a bargain, head to Marshall’s, but if you are looking for service and a beautifully curated collection, Drees is not to be missed.Whew! After all that, you probably need a cocktail. Head over to The Mark for the Hustle (sweet tea vodka, organic black jasmine green tea, and organic maple syrup) with some manchego cheese and grilled bread. If you have time, stay for dinner. Get the locally raised steak and goat cheese salad. Again, trust me. You won’t be sorry.Hopefully, you will be heading downtown again tomorrow, because we only covered two blocks. There is so much more to see! Vivala, Hot Toddy, Matter… The list goes one. Christmas shopping is just around the corner…

Photo courtesy: Oly Town ArtesiansBjork scored his 42nd goal of his four year EPLWA career early on a sprint down the left side with a shot along the ground that just caught Artesians goalkeeper JJ Olson on a weird angle and squeaked behind him. He then scored his 43rd goal 17 minutes later on a play that looked to the Artesians defense and bench to have been offside. The refs didn’t grant the call and Bjork poked it home to make it 2-0 Stars. MIles Sanchez then put the Stars up 3-0 in the 31st minute with a point blank header off of a rebound of a shot that hit the crossbar in front of him.Oly Town showed some life early in the second half when Kyle Wiese drew a penalty and Surafel Wodajo buried the penalty kick to cut the deficit to two goals. The two teams played even ball for the next twenty minutes before Mamadue Leigh just barely got the top of his head on a corner kick to slightly change the flight of the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 4-1.Bjork finished the Artesians off with two more goals, one in the 74th minute and another in the 88th to give him four in the game and 45 in his career. Seattle improved to 6-1-1 with 19 points to extend their lead in the EPLWA to six points over second place Bellingham. The Artesians fell to 2-4-1 with seven points at the halfway point of the season. They have next weekend off but return to action on Tuesday, June 27 with a road trip to Ridgefield to take on the Vancouver Victory. They return home on Tuesday, July 11 at 7:00 p.m. against the same Victory squad.Keep up to date with the Artesians all season long by visiting the Oly Town Artesians website, following them on Twitter and liking them on Facebook.

Powered by Firework Since the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been absent from the Indian Cricket Team. While the former captain was seen in Military training and golf court, speculations on the possible return of Mahi were on the rise. After BCCI prez Sourav Ganguly and Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, former cricketer and Dhoni’s teammate Joginder Sharma has now spoken up.Advertisement Image Courtesy: Outlook India/ReutersBack in November, Dhoni broke his silence on his plans for making a comeback by asking the media to have patience till January: “January tak mat poocho (don’t ask me till January).” While the former captain is yet to answer, Joginder Sharma has added his opinion, suggesting that Mahi might be thinking up differently.Joginder, who was under Dhoni’s maiden captaincy in the squad that lifted the 2007 T20 World Cup, has always held massive respect on his compatriot. Currently a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Haryana Police department, announced retirement from international cricket just after the final match against Pakistan.Advertisement In a recent interview, the 36 year old put in his opinion on Mahi’s plans on making a comeback to the Men in Blues squad: “Dhoni is very strong, both physically and mentally. There must be a lot of reasons behind the decision he has taken.”“He has a family, a personal life, maybe he is preparing himself in a different way,” he added.Advertisement Joginder was Dhoni’s key to success in the final match against Pakistan. As India’s opponents needed 12 runs from 6 balls, the skipper chose the Haryanvi over the superstar Harbhajan Singh, surprising the audience of the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. However, Dhoni’s decision went in avour of India, as Joginder picked up the wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq, after dismissing Younis Khan earlier. He continued: “Nobody expected us to make it to the knockouts of the World T20. But we were being led by someone who went on to become one of the best captains in the game…the result was that we won the trophy.” In his short international spell, Joginder earned 4 ODI and 4 T20 caps. Along with the Indian Cricket Team, he also shared game time with Dhoni in five Indian Premier League seasons with Chennai Super Kings, from 2008 to 2012.
