Earlier, only India’s Mohammad Kaif, Bangladesh’s Soumya Sarkar and Pakistan’s Umar Akmal had achieved this feat.Woakes also became the first fielder to take four catches in an ODI for England. He took the catches of top 4 scorers of Pakistan, Mohammad Hafeez(84), Babar Azam (63), Sarfaraz Ahmed(55) and Imam-ul-Haq (44), thus helping England to stop Pakistan from posting 350 plus total. Later, Woakes also snapped up the wickets of Shoab Malik, Wahab Riaz and Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. His first catch was a diving stunner at the cover boundary to send back Imam ul Haq, who was on course to his first World Cup half century. Woakes chased the ball from long off to grab on to Imam-ul-Haq’s inside out shot against Moeen Ali.Later, Pakistan posted 348/8, which is now the highest total in World Cup without an individual century. Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfaraz Ahmed scored solid half-centuries but none of them reached the century mark, thanks to agile fielding effort by Chris Woakes. Moeen Ali was the hero for England dismissing Azam after snaring both the Pakistani openers in an excellent display of off-spin bowling. If England manages to win this match, they will break another World Cup record. England will register their name as the team with highest successful chase in a World Cup match. Surprisingly, as of now, Ireland holds this record as they hunted down 329 to upset England during World Cup 2011 in India.advertisementAlso Read | Watch: MS Dhoni, KL Rahul in full flow at nets ahead of India’s World Cup 2019 openerAlso See:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for Sports news, scores and updates.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
